I didn't have the time to finish my reply earlier so here's some more info:
In order to shrink Sarah, you need the Shrink and Transform spells.
Transform into Sarah in the streets (cast it from the menu), then cast Shrink on her when she speaks during the scene.
This allows you to walk around like Sarah for a while until you get back home and choose to change back. As far as I know, this does NOT allow you to learn about her home plot.
