That is strange. I just tried it on a fresh save without issue.
It's possible it's a variable mix up (which is not unheard of, but I have no idea what causes them).
What I did on the fresh save:
-Agree to go with Val, then enslave her in the dungeon.
-Enslave Sarah in the hallway w/Grapple (because CG).
-Grab floor 3 and 5 notes.
-Attend both classes.
-Get all spells needed
-Enslave Julia to access the private classes by having 3 or more slaves.
-All 4 worked on the first try.
