well, while waiting for version .55, went back to .53 and finally got it. i dont know what was getting in the way earlier, but i waited to do all val conversations until after she was level 10, and ignored the date and it worked fine. is it possible ng+ breaks it, or is there a required level for one of the earlier conversations? i dont know. it might be as simple as not even starting the date, as when she isnt charmed, you can fail the date before it even starts by missing flirt, resulting in confusion... or maybe i just had an awkward bug. it wasnt a "i had to see it", but a "i wanted to see it". there is only so many times you can do the same run every updated before it gets stale. :)
