Yeah, I know. I haven't played the game for *months* due to lack of updates lately (I probably should, though).

In regards to not being able to get Val as a willing slave: like I mentioned previously, you cannot do it if you're dating her. 

It should have no effect whether you do it on a NG or a NG+.

That said, in the last version (0.54), there's been a LOT of variable mix ups for no reason, other than issues with compiling. It's possible you somehow hit one of those without being aware.
