Dr. Tiff and Ms. Rack's Past Dating
Sarah's Home
Sarah: [Protagonist], I have a favor to ask you.
Protagonist: What's wrong?
Sarah: Well, I'm sure you've pieced together by now that I... Don't have a home the way you do.
Protagonist: I have wondered, we never really talked about it.
Sarah: I used to live outside the town. I live in public housing now because my home and... My home was destroyed while my parents were away adventuring.
Protagonist: They left you alone? Without any protection?
Sarah: They did their best for me. Okay?
Protagonist: Sorry.
Sarah: I can't stand being cooped up here anymore. I... I want to visit my home. Just for a little bit. Will you come with me?
Protagonist: It's dangerous out there though.
Sarah: There's nothing to be afraid of. You know how powerful my magic is! We've been destroying everything in the dungeon effortlessly!
Go with her.
Protagonist: It'll be dangerous. But... I suppose we can go.
Sarah: Great! I knew I could trust you! let's go, I know a way we won't be seen.
(Scene change: Sarah's ruined home)
Sarah: Well, here we are, [Protagonist].
Protagonist: What happened to this place?
Sarah: It... burned down.
Protagonist: Did you... Have a violent awakening?
Sarah: What? No. My gift didn't awaken until after I was already living in town. Look! It's... It's my old doll... I never thought I would find that. I expected adventurers to pick this place clean as close to town as it is...
(If you turned her into a doll)
Sarah: Now that I'm a doll too we're like twins!
???: ROOAAAR
Sarah: What was that??
Protagonist: It's a monster! Get ready to fight!
Sarah: Right. I'll show it who- Wh-who... No... It... It can't be...
Protagonist: Sarah?
Sarah: STAY AWAY! DON'T COME NEAR US!
Protagonist: Sarah! Focus!
Sarah: Why is it still here... Why... After all these years...
Protagonist: Are you even listening to me? Get your guard up!
Sarah: JUST RUN! HIDE! SOMETHING!
[Without any further warning, Sarah bolts from your side, diving under a ruined bed for cover as though the monster wasn't already in the room and could see where she went.]
Protagonist: Damnit Sarah! I have no choice... I have to fight this thing.
(Boss fight: Bear Claw (unwinnable)).
(Upon losing)
Sarah: [Protagonist]!! No!
Bear Claw: GRRR!!
Sarah: Get away from him/her! FIRE AXE!!
Bear Claw: Grrr...
Sarah: It... It barely did anything... I don't care! Take a swing at me! I've embraced the flames too! You can't hurt me!
Bear Claw: Hmph!
Sarah: What? No! Don't turn around! DON'T TOUCH HIM/HER!! YOU CAN'T!! I-I WON'T LET YOU! BLAZE!! Why doesn't it work... No! S-Stop chewing on him! PLEASE! ISN'T ANYONE OUT THERE! HELP PLEASE! HE-- Hel...
Sarah (Mindless): Bubble...
Bear Claw: RAAA!!
Sarah: Hurts. Doesn't it. Get out of here, now. Bubble! ... If only I could have cast that spell years ago... Elemental magic was never really my thing... So... This is her friend. So brave... I'm glad she has someone like this to look after her. I should get you back to town before you bleed out though...
(Scene change: Protagonist's room)
Protagonist: Oww... Where... Where am I?
Sarah: You're home.
Protagonist: Sarah?
Sarah: Not... Exactly...
Sarah's Mom: I am her mother.
Protagonist: Wow... You two look just alike...
Sarah's Mom: That... Is because I am in her body.
Protagonist: How's that now?
Ghost Mom: I had no choice but to possess her to protect the two of you. I had hoped she would come visit me when she was ready. That I could see her all grown up at least once before I move on. I failed to protect our home back then... I'm... Happy I could at least protect her. Still... I... It was a violation of trust to possess her like I did. I can't face her when she wakes up. I know it was an emergency, but I can't look her in the ey knowing that I took her freedom away, even to protect her. When she wakes up... Please tell her I love her... That's all I ask. Goodbye...
(Casting Suppression on her during any part of the scene causes this scene to play out).
Ghost Mom: Wh-What are you... Doing?
Protagonist: Well, when else am I going to get a chance to claim a ghost girl?
Ghost Mom: I s-suppose you're... You're AH!! right! Please... If... If you have to do this please... Just don't tell Sarah what AHH!! You did to me!
Protagonist: Accepting your fate already?
Ghost Mom: I- Ah! I don't have a choice! I lost m-my magic resistance when I b-became a-AAHH!! A ghost! I-I can't... I... I am yours to command...
Protagonist: Good girl. Now, you will follow me invisibly from now on. When I call on you for your services, you will give them. Do you understand?
Ghost Mom: Of course, Master/Mistress.
Protagonist: Good. Of course, you can feel free to watch over your daughter while she is with me. That can be your reward.
Ghost Mom: Thank you, Master/Mistress. You are so kind...
Protagonist: I know. Now go ahead and disappear before Sarah wakes up.
Back at the Lake
Protagonist: So...
Sarah: [Protagonist], hey. I... Messed that up pretty badly, huh? I didn't even consider the possibility of that monster making a nest in my old house. I... Assumed it would be long by now. I don't even know how we survived! One minute the monster is trying to eat you, and the next I'm waking up in my room like it was all just a bad dream!
Explain what happened.
Protagonist: The spirit of your mother was in the house. She helped you save me when she saw us in trouble.
Sarah: Wh-What??
Protagonist: She possessed you and helped you cast a spell that wasn't fire based. I guess being possessed messes with your memory.
Sarah: That's... That's where this bubble spell came from? My mom gave it to me? I... I'm not sure what to say... I'll see you later. I... Think I need some time alone to think.
Introduce her to her mother.
(This dialogue is only available if you have the Possession spell from casting Suppression on Sarah's mom).
Protagonist: Come on out.
Ghost Mom: I am here, M- Oh! S-Sarah. Hello.
Sarah: How do you know my... Wait Y-you look...
Ghost Mom: ...
Protagonist: Sorry, but I can't just have you two be so close and not meet.
Sarah: What do you mean? Is... Is she...?
Ghost Mom: It's okay, I understand. Sarah... I... I've waited a long time to see you again. How is your father?
Sarah: He's dead. He died at the same time that... That you did!
Ghost Mom: Wh-What? But he... Have... Have you been alone this whole time?
Sarah: Not... Not the whole time. I have friends now.
Ghost Mom: I'm so sorry... I didn't know... I thought your father made it out with you. I haven't seen his spirit on this side...
Sarah: Y-You mean... He might be alive? Then where is he? Why did he abandon me?!
Ghost Mom: I don't know... Something must have happened. He loves you just as much as I do. I'm sure he wouldn't have abandoned you!
Sarah: Then where is he??
Ghost Mom: I don't-
Sarah: That asshole! I bet he dropped me off and just went off adventuring without me! Once I'm done with school I'm going to track him down-
Ghost Mom: Sarah! That is no way to talk about your father. You don't even know what might have happened to him.
Sarah: I'm... I'm sorry... I just... What am I supposed to think?? He just... He's just gone? He's not even dead and I was raised all alone?
Ghost Mom: It's okay, sweetie. I'm here now. You're not alone anymore. You haven't been alone for a little while, if your friend is any indication.
Sarah: I'm sorry, this is too much to take in... I don't know how to feel. Will... Will you come visit me?
Ghost Mom: Of course I will.
Sarah: Th-Thanks... I... I love you Mom...
Refuse.
(If Sarah is not your slave, nor if you have Cassandra in the party, nor if you've gotten out from Drape's trap thanks to her, she leaves the party after you speak to her in the hospital.)
Protagonist: It's too dangerous. The monsters in the dungeon are nothing compared to outside.
Sarah: I didn't think you were a coward! What is any monster going to do?? Everything burns in fire! I should have known better than to ask. I'm going home.
Protagonist. I just don't want--
Sarah: Shut it. I'll see you in class.
(Head to the streets for the next scene).
Woman: My god... What happened to that poor girl?
???: I found her on my way back to town. A Bear Claw was dragging her back to it's den.
Woman: Is... Is she alive?
???: Not for long, if you don't have a good healer.
Woman: Hurry and take her to the academy then! They have a teacher who specializes in healing magic.
???: Thank you.
(Go to Dr. Tiff's room for the next scene).
Dr. Tiff: So. You thought you could handle big monsters huh? Look wher that got you!
???: I do not believe she can hear you.
Dr. Tiff: Oh, are you still here? Thank you for bringing her to me, but I really do need to get to her treatment.
Dr. Tiff: Which wouldn't be necessary if SOMEBODY followed the rules!
Protagonist: Excuse me? I.. I heard someone was-- WH-WHAT IS THAT??
Dr. Tiff: That bloody pile there is your team member. Sarah. I don't know why she was outside the town walls, but if I find out you had anything to do with it--
???: This hospital is... less hospitable than I expected. Will this girl really be okay here?
Ms. Rack: She has a better chance of here than anywhere else in town. Trust us. Dr. Tiff may be... aggresive but no patient has ever died while in her care.
Dr. Tiff: This girl certainly wants to try being the first!
Ms. Rack: I know you are both worried, but we need to let Dr. Tiff do her job. I'm sure Sarah will be back on her feet soon.
(Go back to Dr. Tiff's room for the final scene).
Protagonist: Sarah? How are you feeling?
Sarah: I've... been better.
Protagonist: You look better.
Sarah: Yeah... Dr. Tiff healed my external injuries first. She said it pissed her off to see them. Look... I'm... I'm sorry. I should have listened to you. If you had come with me... You... You might have died...
Protagonist: It'll be okay. Everything is going to work out.
Sarah: No. It won't. I'm useless... I almost got you killed just to satisfy my own selfish feelings of nostalgia! When... When I'm released... I'm dropping out. You deserve better than me. You can find someone to take my place.
Protagonist: You just made one mistake. It's going to be okay.
Sarah: No. I... I made up my mind. I don't deserve your friendship.
Protagonist: Don't talk like that!
Sarah: I'm sorry. I... I'm tired... I'll... Be out of your hair from now on... D-Don't... Worry...
Protagonist: Sarah! You can't just... Damnit... She's asleep...
(Note: Sarah leaves the party at this point).
