Character Creation
???: Oh, hello there. I am a disembodied voice here to introduce you to this world. Usually, you press space, or Num Pad 0 to advance dialogue with another character.
???: You can hold the enter key to skip ahead in a conversation that does not hold your interest, and if something catches your eye, you can press Shift to toggle the UI out of your view.
???: Of course, there are times when you will need to make a desicion or answer somebody's question. In this case, you will need to press the number associated with your choice.
???: For example, as a disembodied voice, I can't tell you humans apart. Are you a man, or a woman?
(I am a man)
???: You did seem a little flat for a woman, but I did not want to risk offending. With that out of the way, I suppose I should let you wake up now. (Note: This will cause you to play as Dan).
(I am a woman)
???: Ah, yes. Your chest did seem a bit large for a guy, but I can never be sure. Now, I suppose it is time for you to wake up. (Note: This will cause you to play as Rosa).
???: What's that? Of course I'm not here as an excuse to ask what sex your character is. That would be silly!
???: While I have you here though, which do you prefer? Classic art or updated artwork?
(Both results in the same conversation)
???: Good, good. Well, you should probably wake up now. You're running a little bit late.
Waking Up
Mother: [Protagonist!] Why are you still in bed? You never sleep this late! At this rate you will be late for your first day of school!
Protagonist: What?? Of all days to possibly sleep late. CURSE YOU DISEMBODIED VOICE!
Mother: What would your father, who is away on an extended adventure, and thus will not be back to make an appearance before the end of the school year think if he saw you growing so lazy?
Protagonist: I'm up already! I'm getting ready to go now!
(Scene change: The Protagonist is now in town.)
[Brightly colored stores line the street on the way to the school. Most store owners can't afford fancy building designs, so they mostly rely on their colors to make their stores stand out from each other.]
Val: [Protagonist]! Wait up! You can't go without me!
Protagonist: I'm ahead of you? How??
Val: I slept in!
Protagonist: But you never sleep in!
Val: I KNOW! IT'S WEIRD! Anyways! I was hoping you didn't get too far ahead of me. I wanted us to go together.
Protagonist: I know, you've been saying it for weeks now. What would you do if I had gotten in last year?
Val: You weren't old enough last year.
Protagonist: I was only off by one day!
Val: Seventeen years, eleven months and twenty nine days old is not old enough to sign the school's contract.
Protagonist: I could have joined a day late. What would I miss, orientation? Big deal!
Val: The first day is a big-- Hey! Stop walking faster!
Protagonist: Change subject then.
Val: Ok, well, you will finally get to learn magic now.
Protagonist: That... is the idea. Not everyone can learn magic on their own.
Val: I can't do that much either. I don't know what you are complaining about. Oh! I see the school ahead!
At School
Mr. Drape: Two students late together on their first day. I do hope you plan on being a little more punctual in the future? If not, I will have to take some... Corrective measures.
Ms. Rack: Oh, there you are, Valerie. I was wondering if you got lost.
Val: It's Val.
Ms. Rack: If you are done with them, Min, I will take them back to class now.
Mr. Drape: ...I am for now. I would advise you to avoid playing favorites. I'm sure the rest of your class will learn little by themselves while you babysit your niece.
Ms. Rack: Do you not have your own class to be attending? At least the students I am here for are in mine. Let's go.
(Scene changes to the School, thus why it says it's Ms. Rack who speaks again).
Ms. Rack: Go ahead and take a seat. Now that everybody is here, I can begin. I am Ms. Rack, and I will be your Physical Magic instructor. Every person has their own unique gift, which shapes the magic you are able to use.
What remains the same, however, is that there are four main branches of magic which you can focus on when developing your skill. The branch I teach is physical magic. Unlike other branches of magic, physical magic's primary attribute is to enhance your own physical attributes.
F. Student: Are THOSE the result of physical magic??
M. Student: If so, I hope she teaches that to all the girls.
Ms. Rack: AHEM. Before I take our class clowns to the infirmary, we will be pairing off. Before you can learn any magic, you will need to discover your gift, if you have not already. In the first floor of the dungeon behind the school, there is a sigil through which a quantity of magic flows. Touching it should give you enough of a boost to jump start your own magic. This is your assignment before next class: Choose a partner, and find the sigil within the dungeon. Touch it, and come straight back. Do NOT go past it. Monsters live beyond it, and they are not safe to face before you have learned how to defend yourselves.
Val: Hey, let's go into the dungeon together.
Sure, we can go together.
Val: Thanks! Let's get going!
(Val has Joined the party)
I'd rather go with someone else
Val: Come on! You wouldn't make me go into a scary dungeon with a complete stranger would you?
I'd rather meet some of the other students.
Val: Fine.. I know when I'm not wanted..
Protagonist: ... ... ...
Val: It looks like everyone else paired up while we were talking.
Protagonist: Alright, fine. We can go together then.
(Val joins the party)
Alright, I'll come with you.
Val: Thanks! Let's get going!
(Val has Joined the party)
Venture into the Dungeon
Val: Looks spooky in here. Are you ready, [Protagonist]?
(Both leads to the same dialogue).
Val: Alright, I'll follow behind you then. Use the arrow keys or WASD to move around. The sigil shouldn't be too far away.
(Upon touching the Sigil)
Protagonist: It's a bit off that we haven't seen a single monster yet. I mean, it doesn't even look like there is a gate to keep them in.
Val: The Sigil keeps them back, it powers a barrier.
Protagonist: Really? How did you know that?
Val: I'm not sure.. It just feels... pushy.
Protagonist: Well, I guess I'll go touch the sigil. ... ... Nothing happened.
Val: That can't be right. You would have to be COMPLETELY giftless for it to do nothing!
Protagonist: ...
Val: Um.. Maybe you touched it wrong. Here, let me give it a try. ... ... Wow! That felt intense! I feel like I can do an--er. I mean, It's not that big a deal.. I can do a little elemental magic that's all.
Protagonist: ...Congrats.
Val: Try it again! Just put your hand on it like this, you have to have some magical control!
Protagonist: Hey! Don't push me like that! Ack!! [That's strange... I feel something this time. I can control... Something? Control what? Just... Control? Can simply Control be a gift?]
Val: So, did you get anything this time?
Protagonist: Yes... but I'm not sure what. It's a bit unclear.
Val: Weell, maybe you should try it out?
(You mean you want me to use my magic on you?)
(Note: This causes Val to be enslaved if you push it 3 times).
Val: Why not? You barely just got your magic, it can't be too dangerous right now.
Protagonist: Alright... Lets see... ...
Val: Well... This feels strange... I um...
(Keep going)
Val: Ah! I think... I think we should stop!
Protagonist: What's wrong? What is it doing?
Val: It feels! Ah! Too good..! Can't.. Be right..
(Push further)
Val: I'm... I... ...
Val (Mindless): ...I'm yours.
Protagonist: Are you kidding with me?
Val: No, sir/ma'am. I am yours.
Protagonist: Alright, prove it. Give me a kiss.
Val: Yes, sir/ma'am.
[She steps close to you, wrapping her arms around you and kissing you deeply and passionately. She holds you close for several moments before pulling back with a proud smile.]
Protagonist: I... wow... you were not kidding.
(I need to keep her like this).
Protagonist: I think I like you like this.
Val: Thank you, sir/ma'am.
Protagonist: you will remain just as obedient as this when I wake you. Do you understand, Val?
Val: Yes, sir/ma'am.
Protagonist: Now wake up.
Val: Oh my...! What did... You do to me?
Protagonist: Um... You... remember that?
Val: It's a little fuzzy but I remember... Oh! I kissed you! This is so embarassing. I'm so sorry!
Protagonist: Heh... Do it again then.
Val: What? Why would...
[Her look of surprise slowly melted away into a knowing smile before she leaned close again, giving another deep kiss, holding it longer this time as though she was trying to beat her previous one.]
Val: So... you can order me around huh?
Protagonist: You aren't going to tell anyone are you?
Val: Honestly... I don't think I could. Not if it would get you into trouble. This is.. A bit weird. Let's go ahead and get out of here.
Protagonist: Wait, not that way!
Val: What? Oh! A monster!
Protagonist: Hold on! I'm coming!
Val: Yes, sir/ma'am! I mean.. OK!
(Scene changes to boss "Demoman")
Val: Sir/Ma'am, I know how to fight from my aunt. When you are ready to act a menu will appear with a few spell icons. If you hover over one with your mouse, you can see what the spell will do.
Val: Click on the spell to select it, then click on whoever you want to cast it on. When my turn comes, give me orders the same way and I will obey.
Protagonist: Wait, what do you mean by menu? And what do mice have to do with any of this?
Val: I am sorry, sir/ma'am, I don't know. It is supposed to make more sense once you do it.
Val: Before I forget. You can also use the arrow keys to select spells instead. Once you have a spell highlighted that way, you can press spacebar, or NumPad-0 key to select it.
Val: You can then press left and right to select your target, and finally press spacebar or NumPad-0 to cast the spell.
Protagonist: Alright, how about I just pretend I know what you are talking about. Let's get ready!
(Defeat the boss: Scene changes to inside the Dungeon again).
Protagonist: Whew, that wasn't too hard. You need to be more careful.
Val: Sorry Sir/Ma'am. Er.. I mean, I am sorry. Wow, this whole obedience thing is going to be weird to get used to.
Protagonist: Well, we're fine now. So, no harm done. Let's head back out of here before anything else happens.
Val: Yes, sir/ma'am.. um.. Yes. Let's go.
(Stop now / Give her a break)
(Both leads to the same conversation).
Protagonist: Ok, I'm stopping.
Val: What... Kind of power... was that?
Protagonist: I'm not really sure...
Val: It felt... Feels..
[She leans in close, giving you a quick peck on the cheek]
Val: I'm fine. This is a bit embarassing though. Let's just get back to the school!
Protagonist: Wait! You are going the wrong way!
Val: What are you? OH! A monster!
Protagonist: I'll help you! Stay there!
(Scene change: Boss fight "Demoman")
(I better change her back.)
Protagonist: Too much temptation.. Ok, when I wake you, you will be back to normal, understand?
Val: Yes...
Protagonist: Alright... Now... Wake!
Val: Oh! What just happened?
Protagonist: Oh, I cast a sleep spell on you, I think.
Val: Oh. Alright, well, now that we know what your magic is we can head back to the school!
Protagonist: Wait! Not that way!
Val: What do you- Ah! A monster!
Protagonist: Hold on! I'm coming to help!
(Scene change: Boss fight "Demoman")
(You mean you want me to find a monster to try my magic on?)
(Note: This will not cause Val to get enslaved, but you can still do it later).
Val: Well.. I was thinking on me.. but if you are sure..
Protagonist: Well, it'll be safer if my gift turns out to be dangerous.
Val: You have a point. Alright, let's go find a monster to fight. It should be just past the Sigil.
(Scene changes to boss "Demoman")
Val: Since my aunt is a teacher, I already know how to fight. Once you are ready to act, a menu will pop up. If you hover over the Icons with your mouse, you can see what the spell will do. Click on the spell to select it, then click on whoever you want to cast it on.
Protagonist: Wait, what do you mean by menu? And what do mice have to with any of this?
Val: It's supposed to make sense once you do it. Before I forget, you can also use the arrow keys to select spells instead. Once you have a spell highlighted that way, you can press spacebar or NumPad-0 key to select it. You can then use the left and right arrows to select your target then finally you can press spacebar or NumPad-0 to cast the spell.
Protagonist: Guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Let's do this!
(Defeat the boss: Scene changes to inside of the Dungeon again).
Protagonist: That wasn't too hard. I guess I can tell what my power is.. kind of an odd one though, for a hero to have anyway.
Val: Hehe, you aren't going to go all evil mind controller on me are you?
Protagonist: Probably not? Why, is there a reason I'd need to use mind control you?
Val: Ah! Heh... No, of course not. Besides, using mind control on your best friend would be mean, right? How about we just head out of here for now?
Home from School (Free Val)
(Scene change: Protagonist's room
Val: Oh my goodness! Look at that in the corner!
Protagonist: What is it?
Val: It's a time crystal. They are extremely rare; but if you touch one, it will bind to you, and allow you to send your mind back to your body the moment you touched it!
Protagonist: Wait; so... I get a save point? How does that work?
Val: Just click on it. It should do all the work for you.
Protagonist: That sounds easy enough.
Val: Well, in theory anyway. I've never had one. Oh! We need to get going. Dr. Tiff's support class is starting soon! You do not want to make her mad! Oh and before I forget; if you see anyone hanging around in any rooms be sure to say hello by clicking on thier Icon. Making friends is important after all!
Protagonist: Icons now? What the heck are... you know what? Never mind. Let's just head back to the school.
Val: Just one more thing! If you need to manage our team, you can do so at any time outside the dungeon by pressing Enter. While the menu is open you can click on an Icon to see a team member's stats. When you have an Icon selected, you can click on the lower Icons to swap party members. When nobody is selected, you can see your stats.
Protagonist: Okay, I literally understood none of that. What Icons are you talking about??
Val: I don't know, it's just supposed to make sense when you do it. Well, let's get going.
Home from School (Slave Val)
Val: Sir/Ma'am-erm.. [Protagonist]! Do you see that crystal in the corner of your room?
Val: That is a very rare artifact, Sir/Ma'am. It's really lucky when one appears in your house. If you touch it, it binds to you, and any time you can send your mind back to your body at the moment you touched it!
Protagonist: So, all I have to do is touch it?
Val: Well.. Click on it, really. It'll make sense.
Protagonist: after I do it. Yes, got it.
Val: Sorry. Anyways, if you happen to make any more um... special friends, we will wait for you in this room. So, you can click on us in the top corner to talk to us.
Protagonist: Good to know. Anything else?
Val: Well.. I think I've got my talking almost back to normal. Oh! We should probably visit Dr. Tiff, to get our intro to support magic done today.
Protagonist: Alright, well I guess we can head back to school then.
Val: Oh! Wait, there is one more thing I forgot! When you are in your room, you can manage our party by pressing Enter. When you click on the icons on the top you can select a party member and see their stats.
Val: While a party member is selected, you can swap them into your party by clicking on the icons on the bottom. When nobody is selected you can see your own stats.
Protagonist: Yeah, I literally understood none of that. What icons are you talking about? And what menu?
Val: I'm sorry, It's supposed to make sense after you do it. I guess we can head back to school now.
The Initial Four Classes
(Attempting to entering the dungeon prior to going to Jane's first class triggers this scene).
Protagonist: It won't open...
Dr. Tiff's First Class
(Since Dr. Tiff has two vastly different personalities, bold is her normal personality and italics is her pissed off personality).
Dr. Tiff: I don't fucking care what kind of Rack you were hit by! You are staying in this goddamn bed until I SAY you are better.
THAT GOES FOR BOTH OF YOU. Now stay put. I have a class to attend.
Dr. Tiff: Why, hello class. I am Dr. Tiff, and I will assist you with your support magic studies. Support magic is exactly what it sounds like. It's the power to help others, rather than directly attacking or emparing enemies.
Personally, I love using support magic. Nothing feels more satisfying than helping others in need.
Oh, it looks like one of my parentis needs me. Just a moment.
Dr. Tiff: Oh so you thought you could sneak out of the window while I was teaching a class huh? HOW ABOUT I THROW YOU OUT THE WINDOW!! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE THAT??
If I see you so much as put one foot on the floor without my permission again, I will hang you upside down until you learn how to walk on your hands! DO YOU HEAR ME!!
Protagonist: Wow.. She has some... anger problems.
Val: Um... remind me not to tell anyone if I get sick...
Dr. Tiff: Sorry about that interuption. As I was saying, we are here to help you reach your full potentional. If you like to support your friends as much as I do, come talk to me any time and I'll be glad to help you learn.
Just be careful when you are in the dungeon, you don't want to get yourself hurt!
Drape's First Class
Drape: I do hope everybody is here. I will be starting now regardless. This year we will be doing things a little differently. I do not like to waste time, so any of you who cannot cast debilibating magic yourselves, and are not on a team with somebody who can, you may as well not return to my classroom after today. Since I know you have all only paired off prior to now, I will give you a few minutes to form teams of three.
Sarah: How can we get someone with debilibating magic in our team if everyone with that magic is already in a team of two?
Drape: If you are unwilling to join a team that already has a student with debilibating magic, that is your problem.
Val: We both have debilibating magic, what should we do?
Protagonist: I don't want anyone getting paranoid over my spell. Just tell them about yours.
Val: I understand, well, *Ahem* If anyone wants to join our team, I have a debilibating spell!
Protagonist: It looks like everyone is arguing amongst themselves. They might not have even heard you.
Val: I'm sorry, they must be too distracted to hear me.
Sarah: I heard you.
Protagonist: Oh! Did your team mate leave you to join another team?
Sarah: Oh please, she was lucky to have me on her team as long as I was. Nobody in this school can match the power of my destructive magic!
(Sounds like your magic is a pretty big deal.)
Sarah: I am a pretty big deal. And don't worry about me ditching you, I'm pretty loyal to friends who actually appreciate my power! Ah, before I forget, my name is Sarah, what's yours?
Protagonist: Oh, I almost forgot as well. My name is [Protagonist], and this is Val.
Sarah: Good to meet you two. Let's rock that dungeon!
(Sarah joins the Party)
(How do I know you're telling the truth?)
Sarah: Well, I suppose my power IS quite unbelivable. Don't worry though, I'll show you just how powerful I am when we can get back in the dungeon. Ah, my name is Sarah, by the way. What's yours?
Protagonist: Oh, I almost forgot as well. My name is [Protagonist], and this is Val.
Sarah: Good to meet you two. Let's rock that dungeon!
(Sarah joins the Party)
Drape: That's long enough. If you aren't in a team by now, you can find one on your own time. Debilibating magic is often overlooked as a viable strategy, due to it's indirect nature.
However, you will no doubt find once you begin to delve deeper into the dungeon that taking every monster in a straight fight will leave you quickly exhausted.
Being successful in this school will require more than a brute force approach to combat. An easy to cast debilibating spell can often make a greater impact than simply shelling out raw damage.
Sarah: (Not if I can blow them away in a single blast...)
Drape: I am not going deaf in my old age, young lady. Why don't you show up exactly how powerful your magic is?
Sarah: I can do that easily! I just.. er..
Drape: We are waiting...
Sarah: My.. My arms.. won't move!
Drape: I suppose you won't be posing a threat to any hypothetical monsters then, will you? Now, as I was saying, a low effort debilibating spell can easily save you from injury, or reduce the effort needed to finish off a particularly dangerous monster. I realize some of you have gifts that make debilitating magic difficult to learn, but if you choose not to develop those talents, you will have no pity from me.
Jane's First Class
Jane: Hello students, I am Ms. Smith, but really I would prefer if you called me by my first name, Jane, instead.
Destructive magic is fairly similar to physical magic in a way. Both are largely used to inflict direct damage on an enemy. The difference, however, is that while physical magic is used to boost your own strength to attack an enemy physically, destructive magic is used directly on enemies to cause damage directly. Physical magic can help you bypass the magic defenses of some monsters, but normally destructive magic has more of a punch.
Sarah: Now this is more like it. Support and Debilibating magic sucks.
Jane: But that's enough about that.
I'm sure most of you would rather actually play with your magic than hear me talk about it, and that's exactly the kind of spirit I expect from my students!
So, instead let's talk about the dungeon. Normally the dungeon is closed for the first week of school, but I'm making an exception for anyone who stays in my class. It's generally safer to aim your fireballs at a monster than another student. Besides, the monsters on the upper floors are really pathetic. We haven't had a severe injury on the upper floors in years.
Val: I guess I could give this class a try if you want.
Protagonist: Why not? We already know we can handle the monsters in the dungeon on our own.
Jane: I'd like to give you guys some advice though before I send you off. First you should keep an eye out for more Sigils. They can be hard to spot from a distance, but when you touch one, you can warp straight to it next time.
If you get injured, don't forget to heal yourselves between battle! Dr. Tiff would murder me if I didn't explain this. Just open your menu with Enter, and select your magic menu. You can cast certain spells from there.
From your menu, you can also return from the dungeon at any time. Simply select return to room to will yourself home. Now, I'm sure you are all eager to get into the dungeon and give your new spells a try, so I'll see you all next class! Have fun!
Jane's Second Class
Meeting Sarah in the Hallway
Sarah: Hey! Um.. Could.. Could you come here for a minute?
Protagonist: Huh? What's up?
Sarah: I uh... Need some.. well.. I.. (need some help)
Protagonist: What do you need? You're mumbling.
Sarah: I said I need help! Okay! I think I twisted my ankle trying to walk without moving my arms, and I don't want Dr. Tiff to find out about it...
Protagonist: She is pretty scary... Why don't you just heal yourself?
Sarah: I still can't move my arms! I can't cast anything stuck like this!
(Well, I do know a healing spell...)
Sarah: You do? Alright, I'll let you cast it on me then. Just open your spell menu with your icon on the top left and select the spell.
(Casting Boost)
Sarah: Oh! Wow, so that's what it feels like to have a spell cast on you...
Protagonist: You've never had a spell cast on you before?
Sarah: Oh.. well.. none of my own spells are good for targetting myself..
Er.. Not that I can't! It's just, casting a fireball on yourself would be a rediculous idea wouldn't it?
Protagonist: You don't have any support spells either?
Sarah: Um... I guess that's out of the bag. Heh.. I don't like talking about things I can't do. If you want to turn a monster into an instant flambe though, I'm your girl!
Protagonist: So.. if fire is your thing.. why go with a blue outfit?
Sarah: Oh please. Red and yellow flames are cold. Blue fire is the only color hot enough for me!
Protagonist: Isn't white fire hotter than blue?
Sarah: Ah... Well.. Alright fine! I just like blue, okay? It's not a crime to wear my favorite color.
Protagonist: Sorry, I was just curious. Well, I guess I'll see you later.
Sarah: Just don't forget me when the dungeon opens back up! I've got some real magic to show you!
Protagonist: Don't worry, I won't forget.
(Sucks to be you then.)
Meeting Val in the Hallway
New Game+ Intro Transcript
(You must complete the game and get any Ending, then start a NG+ for this intro to play instead of the default one).
???: Ah, welcome back. Or just welcome. I suppose you don't remember much of our last meeting. Perhaps you do, it can vary.
Beforey ou go, there is just one question I should clear up. Do you wish to remain a [gender], or would you like to try being [opposite gender]?
(Choose either).
???: Very well.
Your new school year awaits you. Just be wary; not everything is as it was. Your actions in the last timeline have left an imprint on this world, for better or worse...
While I do have you here, though, which do you prefer? Classic art, or updated artwork?
(Choose either).
???: Good, good. Well, you should probably wake up now. You're running a bit late.
(The rest of the conversation is identical to the normal intro).
