Derrick the Poor Mage

Derrick is a student at the school.

Very little is known about him, other than being the son of the Item Shop owner and that his mother wishes for him to drop out of the school.

Likewise, he's present during a single scene during the Mysterious Revenge route, during which he sells an unknown woman a lot of Ink Bombs.

According to Sarah, he smells terrible - he, supposedly, smells like a slime. He tries explaining it's because of his hair gel, but Sarah won't listen.

It's possible he'll become a datable person for Rosa in the future, though no one knows at the moment.

If Molly is your slave and you abuse it to get free items, Derrick will take over working at the item shop.

To recruit Derrick, you must do the "Fired Molly" route until Molly gets fired and then speak to her in the streets, then at the lake. Head to the front of the school for him to be confronted by his mother and speak to him. Next, head into school and speak to him again. Speak to Jane and agree to her idea. Speak to Jane once more and during that scene, either cast Charm, Converse: Speed or Suppression which results in the enslavement of Angie.

Finally, head back to school - you can either be vague about it and he'll willingly join the party, also providing an affection boost or you can show him what you did, causing him to be shocked and Angie requests for Derrick to join the Protagonist in the dungeon.

Regardless of choice, Derrick becomes possible to add to the party.

Party Role: Damage Dealer

Derrick is sadly lacking in terms of spells, having only three. None of the spells are highly damaging, but they have a fairly low cost making him a decent option for variety, if nothing else.

Recruitment

To make Derrick join the party, the Protagonist needs to enslave his mother, which is done by getting Moll y fired.

After this, the Protagonist meets with Derrick outside the school. Speaking to him, then speaking to him inside the school and talking him out of dropping out of school, will cause the Protagonist to suggest the Protagonist will speak to Jane so Derrick gets enough credits to pass the school year.

Derrick is grateful for this, so speak to Jane and she'll help the Protagonist dealing with Angie.

After dealing with Angie (either by enslaving or otherwise), speaking to Derrick again will make him join the party.

Enslaving Derrick

To enslave Derrick, you must first enslave Angie. After doing so, have her in her normal personality and head to the item shop. Speak to Angie and say that you want her son.

In the next choice, choose either one though being upfront about it causes her to get an affection boost.

Head back to the Protagonist's room and Derrick is found there. Speak to him and he's now your slave.

Derrick's Family

If the Protagonist got Molly fired, the Protagonist can run into Derrick in front of the school.

There, he's scolded by an unknown woman, who tells him that there's another tear on his jacket. Derrick quietly remarks that he already patched up the jacket, but she doesn't seem to care about it.

The woman tells Derrick he should just quit school and attend working in the Item Shop instead. When Derrick refuses, she gives him an ultimatum: either drop out by himself in a week, or he's getting expelled. Derrick, realizing he has little to say about this, agrees to it.

The Protagonist can at this point speak to Derrick or leave him alone. Leaving him alone presumably locks you out of this plotline.

If the Protagonist decides to speak with Derrick, s/he asks what Derrick is going to do. Derrick says he'll think of something.

Next, they meet in the hallway in the school. Here, the Protagonist tells Derrick that s/he and Molly gains extra credits from helping Jane. Derrick decides to speak with Dr. Tiff, while the Protagonist asks Jane on Derrick's behalf. Derrick is thankful for the Protagonist helping him out. Derrick reasons that, if he can get enough credits to pass the school year in the week before he's kicked out, it should be fine, despite what Angie might say about it.

If Jane is not the Protagonist's slave, she suggests she invite Angie to a meeting and she'll what they can do about it. Or, the Protagonist could just simply enslave Angie.

If Jane is the Protagonist's slave, she'll tell the Protagonist to simply enslave Angie - she reveals that it's been a fantasy of hers to help the Protagonist enslave a student's mother. The Protagonist agrees to this idea.

Faculty Control Ending

Testimony type: Good.

Derrick is one of the slaves that can provide testimony for the Protagonist when confronting Drape.

To make him give good testimony, do the following:

Have him in his Brawler form at least once.

Slave Outfits

Normal

Derrick wears a ragged jacket along with a pair of dark blue pants. He has seemingly had a very strict upbringing, making him unable to properly relax. He also mentions that he prefers to choose his words carefully.

Mindless

He wears the same outfit as normal, only speaking a few words and acting more like a robot.

Female

She wears a black business suit, with a lightish blue sweater underneath and a knee long skirt. She also has a necklace around her neck. She has a very easy view on life, seemingly only wanting to please the Protagonist.

Brawler

Derrick gets a white headband, presumably larger muscles, a red tank top and black pants. He has bandages around his wrists. He is very laid back and remarks that this is his favorite form, as it lets him relax a lot more compared to normal.

Trivia

Despite that the school has no dress code, Derrick, Cassandra and the Protagonist are the only characters shown to dress formally compared to everyone else.
- The reason he does so is unknown, but it's possibly because he's from a family that was rich prior to Gems existing and as such insists on dressing like this.
His mother is the first parent to make a physical appearance in the game that you can also enslave.
Outside of him, there's only five characters with a known first and last name.

He is the first character outside of the Protagonist to be male by default upon joining the party.
- Reese was originally only possible to add as a female.
Derrick is one of three characters you can enslave and change the gender of.
Derrick, Kate and Reese are the only characters that doesn't have a scene related to finding a Secret Note as of version 0.62.
