(This page is about the item. For the route, see Mysterious Book Route.)
The Mysterious Book is an item in Adventure High, with the power of enslaving any woman who reads it, though it is somehow ineffective on men.
There are two ways to unlock it, depending on your relationship with Julia, but both requires to have advanced about halfway into the berserker route.
Obtaining the Book
After reaching the tenth (10th) floor of the dungeon, head to the library and speak with Julia for a short scene, in which she's trying to teach Ashley how to read.
During this scene, choose either option, but asking how Julia is gives an affection boost, while asking when Ashley is done will decrease it, for obvious reasons.
Next, speak to her in the library again and this time, it depends on what your relationship to Julia is.
If you're dating Julia, the book will at this point appear in the Item Shop, for the cost of 10,000 Gems. While Derrick says he has no memory of it coming in, he'll sell it to you without issue. Molly, meanwhile, will sell it to you without a second thought.
If you're not dating Julia, head back to the Protagonist's house and speak to Ashley in the Protagonist's bedroom. At this point, the book will be unlocked for sale.
Using the Book
The following people can be given the book, in no specific order:
Sarah
For her, it requires her to have a certain amount of affection, at around 50. Giving it to her makes her into your slave, if you accept. If she's already your slave, the Protagonist remarks this.
Julia
She's seen reading the book twice in the library. Tell her to keep reading both times and she'll give it to Ashley. If Ashley's mind is not fixed, she'll be seen failing to read it and the Protagonist will confront Julia about it, who remarks that all women should be the Protagonist's slave. If the Protagonist is Rosa, Julia will flash the book in your face is you try to retrieve it.
Cassandra
If you lose the 1v1 duel. When she says "I SAID. Refer to me as Mistress" (or something to that effect), give her the book from the spell menu. She'll end up as your slave once you head back to the Protagonist's house.
Ms. Rack
To give her the book, use it from the menu at the end of any of her secret classes. When talking to her again, she'll be seen masturbating. Order her to share the book to also enslave Dr. Tiff at the same time, by visiting Dr. Tiff's room.
Note that giving her the book post the Bimbo's Gone Wild route, even if you free her, causes the scene where she reads the book to not to play out.
Victoria
This one requires you to have enslaved at least eight other people first. Speak to her in the school after enslaving any eight characters and hand her the book. She will show back up in the protagonist's living room, masturbating while reading it. Agree to enslave her to do so.
Rosa (female Protagonist)
Each time Rosa enters her room, a hidden counter will go up by 1. If Julia flashed the book by ordering to give it back while playing as Rosa, the counter will go up by 200 points. A roll then checks for a random integer between 0 and 1000; if Rosa's current book temptation is higher than this, this advances the Self Booked plot up to three times.
- This equates to 0.1% and 20% flat increases to the odds, respectively. There is no way to lower this in the game.
- Giving someone else the book or changing genders allows you to be safe from it for the time being as only Rosa can trigger it and she must be the current book owner.
The first two triggers do nothing but will warn you that the book might be trouble.
The third one causes a bad end, in which Rosa becomes a slave of the book. There's also a variation depending on if you're friends with Val or not. See below.
Val
If Rosa is good friends with her, Val will walk in on Rosa reading the book and ends up reading it with her, thus becoming a slave of the book as well. Because this leads to a bad ending, Val will not count as your slave at the end of it.
Reese
This one requires you to be on the Mysterious Revenge route. When Reese steps into Cassandra's trap, choose to give Reese the book. Speaking to Reese (female) again causes her to have read the book and become a slave.
Jane
Like Ms. Rack, you have to be give her the book at the end of one of her classes. Unlike Ms. Rack, she uses the book to enslave everyone at the school for the Protagonist, as long as the protagonist is Dan or if the protagonist charmed Sarah. Note that this one has two possible outcomes.
- If the protagonist is Dan, a NG+ triggers, in which Julia has ended up as a slut as a result of the book.
- If the Protagonist is Rosa but has charmed Sarah, Sarah will use a gender change potion on Rosa, thus becoming male (presumably becoming Dan), who becomes the owner of the book again.
- If the Protagonist is Rosa and Sarah isn't charmed, it leads to a bad ending.
- If the Protagonist is Rosa but has charmed Sarah, Sarah will use a gender change potion on Rosa, thus becoming male (presumably becoming Dan), who becomes the owner of the book again.
Erin
She will give it to her brother Eric along with a gender change potion, which will cause Eric to become your slave. Erin must be your slave and you must be on Eric's Suspicion route.
Kate
You can attempt to give the book to Kate in front of the school after she rescues you. However, she will refuse it because she's not doing it for any form of reward.
Due to this, she's the only character not possible to be given the book at any given point as of version 0.62.
Angie
When given the option, cast Conversion: Speed instead of Suppression. Next, talk to her in the Item Shop and give her the book. Tell her to keep it when given the option.
She will make Molly read it as well, but she won't properly be enslaved by it since you had to have her as a slave already.
